Amy Winehouse

September 14, 1983 – July 23, 2011

Amy Winehouse
Amy Winehouse

We all laughed at Amy Winehouse.  She made it so easy.

Aside from her being a psychological and physical disaster, I’ve only ever heard good things about her as a human.  She was described as “a sparkly character,” and she always had a moment for fans.  Even if they rang her doorbell unannounced, Amy would always spare the time.  That alone sets her apart from most.

On the downside, while on holiday back in 2009: a source at a resort claimed that “She walks around in the same grimy bikini bottoms each day with her boobs on show, gets drunk, gropes waiters and is rude to male staff. She’s hardly the most popular guest.”

Hell knows she had a lot of personal problems – all of which can easily be found elsewhere.  At the time of her death, a lot of people commented that she looked better than she had in a long time.

Her PR spokesperson Chris Goodman said, “Amy was on her own at home apart from a security guard who we had appointed to help look after her over the past couple of years.  [at 10pm] She was in her bedroom after saying she wanted to sleep and when we went to wake her he found she wasn’t breathing.”

Police were called by London Ambulance to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23, July, following reports of a woman found directory.  On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene.   Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death.  At this early stage, it is being treated as unexplained.

Amy shared this home with her cat, Sky.

Paramedics discovered Amy’s body at 3:54pm

Amy’s last moment on stage was an appearance to support her god-daughter Dionne Bromfield.  This was just three days before she died..
You never know when it’s going to be your last.

Amy’s body removed from her home.

According to one source, she had been dead for about 6 hours, and “rigor mortis had set in.”
Amy’s body was taken to the Coroner’s office in St. Pancras and identified by her parents.

Clearly devastated, Kelly Osbourne could only lift her fingers enough to text the following 140 characters:
‘I can’t even breath right now I’m crying so hard I just lost one of my best friends. I love you for ever Amy and will never forget the real you!’

Microsoft tweeted (and apologized),
‘Remember Amy Winehouse by downloading the groundbreaking Back To Black over at Zune.’

Twitter and Facebook have destroyed people’s boundaries.

According to one report, Amy’s doctor had examined her on Friday, July 22nd and found “nothing wrong.” Another report states that she was seen buying drugs in Camden at 10:30 Friday evening.  Tabloids have everything going on.  Cocaine, alcohol, ketamine…

Her death is ruled “not suspicious” and official cause of death will not be announced until the toxicology tests are completed.

Amy Winehouse’ house has become a shrine for fans to leave flowers and mementoes.

Her divorced mother and father visited the scene and viewed the memorial that had formed.  Amy’s father, Mitch, was “devastated and speechless.”  He went on to thank reporters and fans.  A guard was posted outside the home.

Funeral part 1: 150 people attended a funeral on July 27th at London’s Edgwarebury Cemetery.  Rabbi Frank Hellner officiated the ceremony.   Kelly Osbourne, producer Mark Ronson, Family and friends attended as her father eulogized his daughter.  He told stories about her childhood and ended by saying, “Goodnight, my Angel.  Sleep tight. Mummy and Daddy love you ever so much.”

Amy’s funeral programme

That last song of the service was Carole King’s “So Far Away”.

Funeral part 2: Amy was cremated  at Golders Green Crematorium.

The Family spokesman Chris Goodman, said “only family members and close friends would be present,” and added: “Cremation is part of the family’s tradition.”

The chapel at Golders Green Crematorium

Funeral part 3:  Shiva – the Jewish ceremony of bereavement – will be observed for two days starting at 5pm on July 26th at the Schinder Hall at Southgate Progressive Synagogue. After the cremation, guests arrived at the hall to share their memories of Amy.

That’s a lot of funeral.

According to TMZ – this is Amy’s security team, holding Amy’s cremains.  The man in the middle is Andrew Morris, the man who discovered Amy’s body.  I like that they posed – the team together one last time.
I’m not sure of the logistics of all of this, but if Amy’s body was just cremated, that package has got to be pretty warm.  Just sayin…

Amy was very well known for wearing ballet slippers.  Sometimes they didn’t look pretty.

Amy’s car is/was still parked in front of her house, and inside, on the passenger seat floor, is a pair of Amy’s favorite shoes.

Let the “Rehab, No No No” jokes commence.

We Have Mailbox!

Findadeath friend Luke paid a visit to Amy’s house and snapped these images.

Luke states, “Just a point, most of the people at her “shrine” were tourists and a lot were having their photograhs taken with the shrine in the background as if it were a regular tourist spot.  I suppose for some it might become one now.  No-one actually seemed upset.  (I suppose those peole visited in the early days.)  It seems they just wanted tos ee what was going on (but, as a death hag, what can I say?!)

Luke mentioned that people asked the security guard if they could post letters to Amy.

Nice to know that Findadeath has a presence there.  Thanks, Luke!

I think it’s the post-it notes that Amy will appreciate most.

Exactly three years prior to her death, Amy’s wax figure was unveiled by her parents at Madame Tussaud’s.

Thank you to Jim in Napa, Liesel, Audrey in Arkieland, and Rapidette.

I was in the hospital and saw on the TV that she had died after waking up from a 16 day medically induced coma after my 2nd suicide attempt. It was very very surreal, almost dreamlike, as I had also been an addict and alcoholic myself. I started listening to her music after getting out of the hospital and I fell in love with her voice and music. She was one of the greatest singer/songwriters there ever was. I hope to meet her when I get to heaven one day.

To Al & Dee in the comments above. it would appear that thou are so holy that you’ve never done wrong or made a mistake in your life. So holy in fact that you seem to be above the concept and idea that, regardless of money and fame, people usually act out their traumas in other ways than being good, angelic and such perfect pillars of moronic society like yourselves! The majority of homeless, day to day folk as well as legendary talented figures in history who appear this way to others is down to one thing, and that is mental health. A problem in itself exacerbated by people like you, who are part of the problem. Thinking their own shit doesn’t stink while preaching about how everyone is a waste of space with no talent. Projecting much? I empathise with you, as clearly you have some mental issues of your own if your answers to someone’s woes and your own lack of success in life are to that level of ignorance! Envy is after all, a mental health issue, and so are feelings of grandiose-ness! I’d go and see someone about that, because, God forbid you get a drug/drink/ or any other addiction. You wouldn’t want your family to follow suit either right? However un- talented they are!!!

YES YES YES 👏 how beautifully spot on and well said. Poor Amy 💗! I had exactly the same debate on the day of her passing after yahoo published a story my mum sent me, purely because I had only been sober 6 months and was so cross with toxic negativity assuming cause of death etc. i even wrote to her father Mitch but had nowhere to send t. Thank you for speaking up about mental health

She was an incredible singer. It’s too tragic she was unable to fight her personal demons.

I’m m from the North of England but was living in Brighton & Hove on the SE coast until 2018.I.was on my way back from shopping and saw this lady staggering towards me trying desperately to light a cigarette against a gale coming up from the English Channel. This woman had legs virtually as thin as my wrists ,torn tights ,hair piled up on top of her head that was falling down& an awful bright yellow streak like a neon Cruella De Ville at the front..I then noticed a missing front took.& as she staggered she repeatedly seemed to bounce off shop windows like she’d lost all conception somehow of time of space.
My natural reaction as a woman was to ask her if she was ok ,even take her into my own home and feed her etc ,have done that many times before with homeless people..As I got closer I realised exactly who was coming towards me & to save her embarrassment I looked away & crossed the road to go into my home…It really upset me ,later that night I rang my 91 yr old mum and said ‘ I was Any Winehouse today ,I don’t think she’ll be with us much longer ‘…5 days later she was dead 😢

Well your lying because she gained a lot of weight and was a healthy weight when she died – you can see her last pictures on the streets looking sober and happy only a day before. Furthermore, she was sober up until the night she died, tons of proof of this, so exactly 5 days before she died she was sober so your a liar – there’s medical, professor and friend accounts. She was really really doing good, she just couldn’t take the pressure of touring and no one would listen and she took her booze medication and then didn’t want to go on, her manager gives her drinks and shoves her on stage (literally she couldn’t walk because he didn’t even care to remember what would happen if she mixed the booze with her medication – it’s the behavior we see on her last performance and it’s just sad, because she tried really hard and was pressured by so many people because she was paying for so many people – you have no idea what pressure she was under & your obviously too narrow minded to even conceptualize it) It’s messed up that you lied for attention and abuse a poor human being who was considered the kindest, most unique & talented soul. She would pick homeless people who were ill off the street and pay for their surgeries; she paid for friends to go to rehab for months; she did so much good and her singing helps so many, you can Google and find so many people let alone the above comments — shame on you for talking so nasty and lying about such a beautiful soul. It’s people like you who make the world ugly.

I wouldn’t say she was untalented. Massively overhyped, absolutely. People wouldn’t be banging on about how amazing she was if she didn’t die young, same as Cobain. She had absolutely everything yet chose to be a junkie. Not exactly someone worth missing.

She was praised from far and wide long before she died. She was incredible, a real talent. People are so used to computerized voices they don’t know the difference.
