Dearly Departed Newsletter – Bye Bye Ghosties

Bye bye ghosties.

Hi everyone!

If you’ve been following along in the story of the Haunted Mansion Hitchhiking Ghosts on our wall, there is a new chapter that has been added to what’s becoming an epic saga of ridiculousness. Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro and street artist MegZany painted the famous Hitchhiking Ghosts on our back wall. Dave had painted a pair of mating cats on that same wall a few months back and it’s gone mostly unnoticed by the Powers That Be.

Then we showed up one morning to find the Hitchhiking Ghosts in mid-October. We had an event planned at the shop that night so it was like we got a gift, kind of like Christmas… our kind of Christmas. Then our landlord blew a blood vessel and accused us of painting it ourselves. While I appreciate the landlord’s confidence in our artistic abilities, that was a little too much credit. Fortunately, we talked the landlord in letting the ghosts stay until Halloween. Bright and early on November 1, the ghosts were painted over. The cats were too after going unnoticed for all those months.

But ghosts don’t go away easily. They haunt their locations because that’s their job. Maybe they were angry because some new “art” came our way in form shitty graffiti done by local kids. Well, I assume it was kids. Certainly childlike skills. It was like the ghosts got revenge for eviction. That was covered up too. Happily so. But we miss our ghosts.

We’ve added our tours through mid-April including the Saturday night Horrific Homicide Tour which has really taken off.   True crime.  Who knew.

Walking tours on offer are The Haunted History tour on November 29 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood on November 30. These tours are getting rave reviews so if you’d like to join up, we’d love to have you along.

check the calendar here.

That’s that, pussycat.

Love,
