Famous Deaths, Funerals and Fantasy

Hi everyone,

We’ve entered the Dark Ages—literally.  It gets dark about 30 minutes after the sun comes up and it’s a little depressing.  The PAIN is REAL!!!   Fortunately, it’s temporary and we’re counting the days down until the days start growing lonnnger.  Until then, we’ve been putting together some stuff for all y’all.

THE DARK SIDE OF OZ

Mike and I have a new podcast out and this one is about the Wizard of Oz.  This movie is considered a classic,  Everyone is so familiar with it that it’s easy to take for granted.  But stepping back and taking a look at it, it really is a masterpiece. Check out these lyrics:

Were they tripping?  Then you get into the Technicolor, the costumes, the characters … I could go on, and do.  The behemoth that was MGM threw everything into this crazy-ass musical that truly is a psychedelic feast. Of course our take is a bit darker, addressing the accidents on the set and deaths of the stars.   Our podcast is here.

WHO KILLED JAMES DEAN?

The video I released this week on YouTube is the portrayal of Donald Turnupseed (true name) who was driving the Ford that killed James Dean in 1955.  Of course we all know about Dean – but what about the guy driving the other car?  What happened to him?  Find out here.

DEAR SANTA

We have another real estate listing for you and it’s a revisit.  Less than two years ago, the infamous LaBianca murder house was sold.  Now it is on the market again.  Zak Bagans from Ghost Adventures purchased the house last year and he has now put it back on the market.  Of course, at a profit.  Here’s the listing on TMZ.   Quick side note: Why is that whenever a real estate price is listed, it has to have “cool” in front of it?  What does that even mean? Are there no other adjectives?  Cliché cliché cliché … In these difficult times, check out the house.

VIRTUAL AMBASSADOR

Elisa Jordan, who does tours as L.A. Woman Tours with us, has teamed up with April Clemmer, who does walking tours of Old Hollywood, are partnering for a virtual talk about the Ambassador Hotel and its famous nightclub, the Cocoanut Grove.  The Ambassador  Hotel was one of the most important landmarks of early Hollywood and one of the most important events in American history happened inside it, so it’s been torn down.  Elisa and April resurrect it for this event – and if you’d like to attend (in the comfort of your own home) it’s Saturday the 21st.  Tickets are available here.   You’ll be able to access the presentation about a week afterwards, just in case you can’t make the “live” event.

Lastly, I dusted off some of my Memorial Booklets from Celebrity Funerals, and shared them in a video.  There are so many interesting details about the services like the music chosen, or who the pallbearers were.  I hope you like them.
