The Lennon Sisters’ Tragedy and a Hickey from Kenicki

Dearly Departed Newsletter – 07/23/2020

Hi everyone,

Hope you’re well. I thought I’d share my latest vlog with you.

Fractured Fairy Tale

This time we’re covering the murder of the Lennon Sisters’ father, Bill Lennon, which happened just 108 hours after Sharon Tate was killed.  The Lennon sisters were a singing family from Venice Beach who rose to fame thanks to the Lawrence Welk Show. Their manager/father worked at a golf course in nearby Marina Del Rey as well as booking the gigs for his daughters. As we often see, fame can have a dark side to it, which is what happened to the Lennon family.

Perhaps a session of banging erasers…

Last week we released the latest Dearly Departed Podcast, which is about the film Grease, everyone’s favorite movie (except Mike). Now we’ve released the video version of the podcast on YouTube.  Like the other ones, it’s just sitting and talking to each other but we like to think of it as a modern-day fireside chat.  Or whatever.  Anyway, if you’d like to join us, we’d love to have you, the link is here.  Thank you—as always—for your support. Thanks to the listeners we’re able to keep making episodes.

Yet More Helter Skelter

Last weekend on the Epix channel aired episode 1 of Helter Skelter: An American Myth.  I though it was terrific.  It had the feel of the 60’s down and had some great interviews.  I can’t wait for the next 5 Episodes.  I know a few of the people who are interviewed and I got a shout out in the credits for the work I did on it.  The reviews have been good.  The trailer is here.

Gasping

Our museum is closed, but our online shop is still open.  Those awful tragical trinkets can still be acquired!
