My friend Anne Parisi sent me this photograph. Anne lives in San Diego, and this is a road sign that adorns the highways anywhere near the Mexico border. I found this sign extremely funny, but I guess hitting immigrants is a real problem there.
As an aside, does anyone else think that Taco Bell using the phrase “Run for the border,” was a bit dangerous?
That sign to me means speed up.
But didn’t the phrase “Run for the border” usually refer to outlaws who were headed south, rather than immigrants heading north? In the old westerns a lot of Yankee bandits would try to flee to Mexico to escape the law.
RE: Taco Bell Beginnings? – Run For The Border
Some in Southern California refer to that sign as the “Road Runner” sign.
