Living in Hollywood, and doing what I do, I see places being destroyed all the time. Places I would love to see preserved. Some places still exist, much to my surprise. The Brown Derby for example. There were several Brown Derby restaurants around Los Angeles, but only one that looked like this.
Most people think its gone forever. They are wrong. The hat still stands, though its now a Korean restaurant, with a view of the Ambassador Hotel.
So, next time you are passing the Ambassador (while you still can) glance across the street at the remains of this great old Hollywood restaurant.
When I was a boy I used to go inside of the Brown Derby hoping to meet a movie star. I never did but it was always exciting!
