Back in the early to mid 1980s, Nickelodeon was showing old TV shows that hadn’t seen the light of syndication for quite a long time. That was when I first saw “I Married Joan”. I had never heard of it before and was struck by how bad it was and by what a great extent it was a pale, inferior rip-off of “I Love Lucy”. Joan Davis was no Lucille Ball. I haven’t seen it again since that brief period when I watched a few episodes.
I’m surprised you didn’t touch upon the fact that Beverly Wills was drunk off her ass when the fire started, and that fact combined with her smoking is what caused the fire. Her mother Joan had put pressure on her since early childhood to become a great star, but Beverly never did become a great star. This was probably a contributing factor to her alcoholism (being drunk off her ass was not an infrequent occurrence).
Alan grossman, the second husband of Beverly willis and the father of the two boys who perished in the house fire, appears to still be living. I wonder what his story is and why he never bought a marker for his sons.
This is great, seeing this part of Palm Springs. She was definitely great in ‘Hold That Ghost’ and the other stuff she did early on at Fox and RKO before TV fame. She’s too forgotten today.
What’s another shame is the boys father who is still alive didn’t give a shit about putting markers on his sons graves

Such a shame that after all this time the boys are in unmarked graves. 🙁
